The Bible

Pastor’s Moment: Since I first read the bible, I have always skipped the places where it lists who was the son of who – I just did not understand why those lists are in the bible.

You see several places in the bible are just lists of names:For instance Genesis 5, I Chronicles 1 – 10, Matthew 1 and Luke 3.

Today I just decided to read the list and see if I get the point.

I am sure many of you like me just skip those parts as we look for a psalm to inspire us, or a proverb to encourage us and maybe a great quote from Paul to energize us.

So I have gone through the list of names on Mathew 1.

I notice several minor things like that all the sets have the exact number of names, except one. Two sets of 14 names and one of 13 names – but well I cannot understand why – so I let go.

Then ...

What difference are you making?

Are you resigned to circumstances? have the majority had their way and so you have resigned to fate even when you know what is right and true?
Let me encourage you, just do what is right, true and just.
Jeff The Mountain Mover shared this story, “There was a man taking a morning walk at or the beach. He saw that along with the morning tide came hundreds of starfish and when the tide receded, they were left behind and with the morning sun rays, they would die.
The tide was fresh and the starfish were alive. The man took a few steps, picked one and threw it into the water. He did that repeatedly. Right behind him there was another person who couldn’t understand what this man was doing. He caught up with him and asked,
“What are you doing? There are hundreds of starfish...

A Story for Dennis

Pastor’s Moment: “Dennis let me tell you a story, one that I do not tell. ”
“On 4th of Sept, on a rainy Thursday, I was raped by 8 men, thugs, 7 had pistols, 1 AK47. I was subsequently admitted to Nairobi Women’s-Hurligham, for a month.”
“…Rape, Dennis, is the worst crime. I can’t even say that it will ever be okay. ”
“..4th Sept 2014. The thugs carjacked me right at my house parking lot, made me walk for 3Km, under rain, bare foot in the mud…forced me to drink sewage water as we crossed Nairobi river, all this time them narrating stories of how best they’d kill me, after kidnapping me for a week and raping me senseless.”
“..and then it happened. They took turns, at times three at a go. They inserted their pistols in me. I feel violated to date. ”
“The doctors still say it is a miracle...

Under Pressure

Pastor’s Moment: Helen Keller, made a great observation, “Character cannot be developed in ease and quiet. Only through experience of trial and suffering can the soul be strengthened, vision cleared, ambition inspired, and success achieved.”
Many times when under pressure, our real character emerges.
Some choose shortcuts, others choose the easier options, but those who value character stick to the research, the fact, the reality and to prayer too.
Sometimes when broke and pressure for bills mounting some choose the loan, instead of reduce expenditure, like move to a cheaper house, drop bread from the budget and many other cost cutting measures.
When faced with the tree dilemma where a snake is on top of the head, a crocodile in the water, a Lion on the ground, most people choose to clos...

Pastor’s Moment: ….But Balaam answered, “Even if Balak gave me all the silver and gold in his palace, I could not disobey the command of the LORD my God in even the smallest matter. ”
Balaam was responding to an offer to be rewarded with all the Gold and silver he wanted, God had instructed him not to go.
His response challenges me a lot, ” I could not disobey The Lord my God in even the smallest matter”
Many of us are entrusted with duties and responsibilities and there are so many shortcuts, how many stretch their hands for someone else in line with the instruction Love your neighbor as you love yourself?
Since you got a job, or a chance to recommend someone outside your sphere and family have you eve thought about that guy you saw on FB asking for a job even though you did not know hi...

Pastor’s Moment: 2 Corinthians 5:1-5 records a very serious truth.

Of all the fears that plague the heart of man, none is greater than the fear of death. It is our greatest fear, the sum of all other fears.

We are afraid to die. We are afraid of what happens when we die.

Death is the fundamental human problem.

Life is short and so uncertain. “What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes” (James 4:14b).

Moses said to the Lord in Psalm 90:5-6, “You sweep men away in the sleep of death; they are like the new grass of the morning-though in the morning it springs up new, by evening it is dry and withered.”

George Bernard Shaw remarked, “The statistics on death have not changed. One out of one person dies.”

Worldwide, there are approximately 56,600,...
